DECEMBER

EXCEPTIONAL HOLIDAY DISPLAY NOMINATIONS BEING TAKEN NOW THROUGH DECEMBER 12TH

The Montgomery Beautification Committee is organizing a Holiday Decorations contest again this year with a few changes. As always, it is an opportunity for Montgomery homes and businesses to be recognized for exceptional holiday displays.  However, this year, instead of committee members driving around town to try to find outstanding decorations, awards will be given only to homes or businesses that are nominated for consideration. Residents can nominate their own property or someone else's. All that is needed is the property address. Committee members will then visit the nominated addresses in order to select the winners. A sign will be placed in front of the properties selected for an award.  Owners are asked to leave these signs up through the holidays, and they will be collected after the holidays are over.

Nominations will be accepted through December 12th, and judging will take place on December 15th.  You can nominate a propery by calling the Village of Montgomery Public Works Department at 630-896-9241 or via the Village website at www.ci.montgomery.il.us

Help Us Help Those in Need This Holiday Season

With the holiday season just around the corner, Fox Valley United Way is once again partnering with local businesses, community groups, families and individuals who want to reach out a helping had to those who are having difficulties during these tough economic times.

While many of us are telling our children that there won't be a lot of gifts under the tree this year, many children in our community will not have any.  That is unless we do something to help.  The Fox Valley United Way wants to help those needy families who won't have the means to provide gifts for their children this year.

Unfortunately for these families, many other resources in the community have dried up.  Therefore, the Fox Valley United Way is asking businesses and their employees, community groups, families and individuals to consider making it a brighter holiday for area children.

Here's how you can make a difference:

- Adopt an individual family (Info: deborah.collins@uwfoxvalley.org)

- Make a montetery donation (Checks mailed to Fox Valley United Way, 44 East Galena Blvd., Aurora, IL  60505/ Cash donations can be dropped off at that same address/ Or contribute by credit card at www.uwfoxvalley.org).

- Purchase a gift card from a local grocery store to help provide a holiday meal for a family

- Purchase hats, gloves, mittens and scarves for the children so they don't have to worry about being cold during the winter months

- Run a children's toy drive!  Drop off unwrapped gifts at the Fox Valley United Way office.

Please note: all gifts should be unwrapped and donations of any size are appreciated.  Deadline to drop off donations at the Fox Valley United Way office is Friday, December 9th.
